2008 DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS

at Robert Morris University & Sewickley Academy

Entry Fee: The entry fee is $325.00 per team for all age groups (no multi team discounts available)

Entry Deadline: Team paperwork and fees must be received no later than April 25, 2008 for all age groups. Mail to: Basketball Stars of America, c/o Coach Daryn Freedman, 547 Burkes Drive, Coraopolis, PA 15108. Checks for $325 per team should be made out to: Basketball Stars of America AAU.

AAU Membership: All players, coaches and teams must be AAU registered for the 2008 season. Registration and Roster Forms must be completed (available on Basketball Stars web site).

Age Determination: A player is eligible to participate in a given age division if born ON or AFTER the dates listed below. MUST present a birth certification.

September 1, 2008 shall be the determining date for the age of the competitor and shall hold true for  Super Regional, District  and National Championships.

For example, an athlete born, September 15, 1991, would be age eligible to play in the 16U/10th Grade Division in 2008.  If the same athlete is a 9th Grade student as of March 1, 2008, he would be eligible to play 15U/9th Grade as a Grade Exception.

Please note that 3 grade exceptions per team are allowed up through 14 & Under. There is no limit on grade exceptions from 15 & Under up.

Rules of Play:

15 & Under to 17 & Under/Open Boys will play 2 16-minut stopped time halves.

Younger aged games will feature 2 14-minute stopped time halves.
Mercy Rule: Clock will remain running if a team is up 20 with 5 minutes or less to go, or up 30 with 10 minutes or less to go.
PIAA High School Rules Apply unless noted - Bonus on 7th team foul of half, Double Bonus on 10th team foul of half.
Players foul out on 6th personal foul or 2nd technical foul.
Any player or coach ejected from a game must sit entire next game as well.
Each team will get 3 full (45 second) time-outs per game - can be used at any time!
Overtime periods will be 2 minutes each.
4-minute warm up, 2-minute half time.

 Pool Tie-Breaker Rules:
1) Head to Head
2) Plus/minus with 15 point max per game
3) Least Points Given Up
4) Coin Flip

Team Entry must include:

1) A check for $ 325.00 per team. Checks must be made out to: Basketball Stars of America.

3) Fully Completed Roster Form – AAU #s as well as all address info must be on this form – If you need to obtain AAU #s go to:  http://www.aausports.org go to "Join Now"

All teams must bring Birth Certificates and Grade Exception Forms – available at: http://www.aauboysbasketball.org/blue/pdf/gradeexception.pdf  - with them to all games. If a team protests a player, these will be checked for accuracy.
